David has been a Director of HBW Law since 2018 and brings over 15 years’ experience advising clients on both property matters and private client work. His career has seen him handle a wide range of residential and commercial property transactions, as well as complex wills, probate, and estate planning cases.

David now specialises in commercial property and wills & probate, offering clients a rare combination of technical expertise and practical insight across both fields. This dual focus allows David to provide holistic advice to clients whose needs span multiple areas of law—whether they are business owners planning for succession, property investors managing their portfolios, or families seeking to protect their assets for future generations.

Commercial Property

David acts for landlords, tenants, landowners, developers, and portfolio investors. His work includes:

• Advising landlords on granting, renewing, and enforcing commercial leases, as well as handling rent reviews, dilapidations, and tenant disputes.
• Supporting tenants in negotiating lease terms, assignments, subletting, and resolving issues with landlords.
• Guiding clients through land acquisition, site development, planning matters, and the sale of completed units.
• Assisting building developers with land assembly, plot sales, infrastructure agreements, and site management.
• Advising portfolio investors on acquisition, management, refinancing, and restructuring of property portfolios.

Wills & Probate

David also provides expert advice on:

• Drafting wills tailored to individual and family needs.
• Setting up trusts for asset protection, tax planning, and vulnerable beneficiaries.
• Managing probate and estate administration, including complex estates and inheritance tax matters.
• Advising on powers of attorney and deputyship applications.

Outside of Work

David enjoys playing sports and has completed multiple marathon events as well as the both the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge and the National Three Peaks Challenge. He is passionate about giving back to the community and has raised money for several charities—always looking for new opportunities to support good causes in the future. David is also a keen musician and, from time to time, can be found performing at local music venues.
